I have been traveling for past 8 months to villages in Coastal Andhra.Dastkar Andhra had give me a great opportunity to work with the weavers settled in that regions.I used to travel often to East godavri,West Godavri,Krishna and Srikakulam Districts to get my sarees design developed by the weavers. While travelling, other than my work, to get the designs developed in to sarees..i have experienced the essence of the Rural life.Travelled by bus, share autos, bullockcarts and met variety of people.I captured few pictures of the villages i travelled, which would show you the kind of Architecture, livelihood ,landscapes and their routines.
Pasalapudi is one of the villages I travelled often, which is in East Godavari.
I usually take a bus from Hyderabad on an overnight journey to reach Mandapeta- a town near Pasalapudi, where the weavers’ society is located. I lived at a lodging in Mandapeta , theKalavapuvu center from where I used to travel to Pasalapudi. To reach the town, I take a sharing-auto meant for six people, but travels with 10 to 12 other people . The route is a single straight road parallel tothe Godavari(kaluva).

Palm leaves products.
I found basket making and chicmaking with bamboo and palm leaves all around the nearby village. Fruit and vegetable vendors use the same hand woven basket ofthe palm leaf. Palm leaves are used in making many more products like mats, hand fans, baskets. Now-a-days,fancier colored plastic tapes are also used to make baskets.
The landscape of the village is all green and open sky. I could see only long trees of coconut and palm and not even a single electricity pole for such a stretch of land. The houses there are still very old and traditional with typical beams and coutyards. Everywhere i could see organic fuel (pidakalu) made of cow dung.
